SafetyCerts.ie (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an online provider of Manual Handling training courses, operating in Ireland.
For the purposes of data protection law, we are the data controller responsible for your personal data.

Account and registration data: your first name, last name and email address when you register for a course.
Payment data: when you pay for a course, payment is processed by our third-party payment processor Stripe. We do not store your full card details on our systems. We may retain a record of the transaction (such as the amount, date and a payment reference) for accounting and order-fulfilment purposes.
Course and assessment data: your progress through course modules, your answers to exam questions, your results, and the details recorded on your certificate of completion.
Communications: any correspondence you send to us, such as support requests or enquiries.
Technical data: information collected automatically when you visit our website, such as your IP address, browser type, device information and pages visited, together with information from cookies and similar technologies.
How we collect your personal data
We collect personal data when you register for and pay for a course, when you complete our modules and exams, when you contact us, and automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you use our website.
Why we use your personal data and our legal bases
We process your personal data on the following legal bases under the GDPR:
To provide the service you have purchased (performance of a contract): to register your account, take payment, give you access to course content, record your progress and exam results, generate your certificate of completion, and email that certificate to you.
To comply with our legal obligations (legal obligation): for example, retaining transaction records for the period required by Irish tax and accounting law.
For our legitimate interests (legitimate interests): to operate, maintain and improve our website and courses, to keep our systems secure, to respond to your enquiries, and to keep records of certificates issued. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we balance those interests against your rights and freedoms.
With your consent (consent): for any optional marketing communications, and for certain cookies. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Sharing your personal data
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary, including with:
Service providers and processors who help us run our service, such as our payment processor, website hosting provider, and email delivery provider. These parties process your data only on our instructions and under appropriate data protection terms.
Professional advisers and authorities where we are required to do so by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Email delivery of certificates
When you complete a course, your certificate of completion is sent to the email address associated with your account. Please ensure your email address is accurate and that you are entitled to receive email at that address. Email is not a fully secure medium, and while we take reasonable steps to protect the contents, we cannot guarantee the security of information sent by email.
International transfers
Where any of our service providers process personal data outside the European Economic Area, we take steps to ensure an adequate level of protection, for example by relying on an adequacy decision or on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
How long we keep your personal data
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy:
Account and course completion records, including details of certificates issued, are retained for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, so that we can re-issue or verify a certificate if needed.
Transaction and accounting records are retained for the period required by Irish tax and accounting law.
When personal data is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymise it.
